Should Young Innovators Embrace a Greater Risk-Taking Mindset? PM Modi's Call
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 12 (NationPress) Criticizing the policy paralysis of earlier administrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday commended the commitment of Gen Z towards India’s development through innovation and encouraged young creators to embrace a more substantial risk-taking approach.
While addressing the attendees of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue, he stated, “Young innovators must advance with a mindset geared towards taking bigger risks. The government stands behind you, and you need not retreat.”
During the concluding session of the Dialogue, PM Modi referenced reforms such as the New Education Policy 2020, which marks a pivotal shift away from the education policies introduced by Lord Macaulay that fostered a colonial mindset.
Emphasizing the significance of Swadeshi, he urged the youth to commit to removing the colonial mentality embedded in the Macaulay education system and highlighted initiatives like PM Setu, aimed at enhancing ITIs to promote skills and entrepreneurship.
He pointed out that there are merely ten years left until the 200th anniversary of Macaulay’s education policy, expressing confidence that the younger generation will fully liberate the nation from colonial thinking during this timeframe.
He reminded the youth of the dismal situation prior to 2014, when the nation had only 500 startups, whereas today, there are over 1.5 lakh startups.
Elaborating on the simplification of tax policies and the nurturing of the startup ecosystem and space sector, PM Modi noted that there are currently over 300 startups operating within the space industry.
He expressed optimism regarding discussions on topics like women-led development and youth involvement in democracy, which he believes showcase the capacity of young minds to drive national progress in the coming years.
“With innovative ideas, energy, and purpose, Yuva Shakti leads the charge in nation-building,” he remarked.
The Prime Minister also drew attention to his government’s initiative to deregulate the drone industry, allowing for greater innovation in drone technology.
“Our streamlined drone policy has ensured that Make in India drones are excelling in combat and that drone Didis are thriving in the agricultural sector,” he stated.
With the emergence of 1,000 defense startups, Digital India has fostered a new wave of innovators, he noted.
He encouraged creators to integrate Indian mythological narratives and figures, such as Lord Hanuman, into the gaming industry. “Our Lord Hanuman can single-handedly revolutionize the gaming sector,” he asserted.
“Promoting our culture through the incorporation of mythological figures in gaming can enhance its popularity,” he added.
Encouraging innovators to proceed with assurance, he urged the youth to cultivate a mindset that fosters dialogue for development at local and regional levels.
