Profile: Who Is Dr. Pramod Sawant?
Dr. Pramod Sawant was born on April 24, 1973, to Pandurang and Padmini Sawant in Goa. He completed his Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine, and Surgery (BAMS) from Ganga Education Society's Ayurvedic Medical College in Kolhapur, followed by a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Tilak Maharashtra University, Pune. He belongs to the Maratha community.
He is married to Sulakshana Sawant, a chemistry teacher at Shri Shantadurga Higher Secondary School in Bicholim. She is an active BJP member and currently serves as President of the Goa BJP Mahila Morcha.

Sawant's political entry came in 2008 when he contested the Pale constituency by-election as a BJP candidate but lost to Pratab Prabhakar Gauns of the Indian National Congress.
