Kurukshetra, Nov 25 (NationPress) On the historic grounds of Kurukshetra, a significant gathering took place on Tuesday at the Gita Updesh Sthali to commemorate 350 years since the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.
The event was graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who launched a series of cultural and spiritual initiatives aimed at honoring the Guru’s contributions and enriching the local heritage.
During the ceremony, the Prime Minister unveiled a special postal stamp and a commemorative coin. He also toured the newly established Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra, an immersive center dedicated to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, and officially opened the Panchajanya Conch Memorial, which symbolizes Lord Krishna’s divine declaration in the Mahabharata.
The occasion received enthusiastic support from both locals and visitors.
Alkesh Modgil, a resident, expressed hope regarding the developmental projects.
“The opening of the Panchajanya Conch Memorial will undoubtedly boost tourism in Kurukshetra,” he noted.
“Few are aware that Panchajanya was the sacred conch blown by Lord Krishna in the Mahabharata. Now, people will have the opportunity to explore and learn about it.”
For Roshan Bedi, the event symbolized unity and pride.
“Today’s grand gathering will reinforce Hindu–Sikh unity,” he remarked. “On this 350th anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s martyrdom, such events instill immense pride. Supporting this sentiment, Ganesh Datt emphasized that the celebration not only honored history but also motivated the younger generation to engage with India’s spiritual legacy.
“The remembrance of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s sacrifice today will inspire people to revisit values of courage, compassion, and universal brotherhood,” he commented.
This all-day event, which blended reverence, culture, and collective pride, reaffirmed Kurukshetra’s enduring identity as a land of dharma, sacrifice, and spiritual enlightenment.
