New Delhi, June 28 (NationPress) Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated on Saturday that the Modi administration has instigated a remarkable transformation in India's oil and gas sector over the span of 11 years.
This transformation has been achieved through a variety of innovative initiatives, such as 'Digital India', leading to the modernization of fuel stations and LPG systems.
In a post shared on the social media platform X, the Union Minister emphasized that due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary guidance, "our fuel stations, refineries, and LPG systems have evolved to be more intelligent through Digital India in the past 11 years."
He remarked, "The integration of unified payments interface (UPI) at fuel stations and the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in refineries signify a genuine technological shift that is evident at every juncture."
The Minister further shared a video illustrating the substantial advancements in the oil and gas industry, primarily driven by technology.
Currently, nearly all fuel stations are automated, with digital controls in place for fuel dispensing units and inventory management.
The video highlighted that UPI is now widely accepted at fuel stations. Furthermore, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) has been implemented in the LPG system, resulting in savings of ₹3.48 lakh crore.
Moreover, the application of "digital twin" technology and AI has significantly reduced downtime in refineries, contributing to increased production.
The Minister also mentioned that the Modi government has recently opened up approximately one million sq km of India's 3.5 million sq km sedimentary basin for oil and gas exploration, an area that was previously restricted.
"Thanks to Prime Minister Modi's visionary leadership, this entire 'No-Go' zone has been unlocked to enhance domestic production and decrease import reliance," stated the Minister.
He added that along with the new legislation governing exploration and production, various initiatives have been introduced to facilitate a smoother business environment in the oil and gas exploration and production sector.
