Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Surat and Daman on 5 June to inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone for a slate of development projects valued at over ₹22,600 crore, spanning transportation, healthcare, industrial infrastructure, power, civil aviation, tourism, and maritime connectivity.

Gujarat leg: ₹18,800 crore push

The Prime Minister will begin his tour in Gujarat, visiting Hazira in Surat district at around 2:30 pm to review ongoing industrial operations and infrastructure works. At approximately 4:15 pm, he will launch projects worth nearly ₹18,800 crore in Surat and address a public gathering.

A key highlight is the dedication of Packages VI and VII of the eight-lane access-controlled Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, expected to sharpen logistics efficiency and economic linkages between Gujarat and Maharashtra. Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the four-laning of critical stretches of National Highway-56, improving access across tribal belts and to the Statue of Unity.

Healthcare and industrial infrastructure

In the healthcare sector, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a new 200-bed Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital in Surat, equipped with a central laboratory, ancillary services, and round-the-clock emergency and trauma care for occupational injuries and medical emergencies.

Power and industrial projects include the expansion of Gujarat's transmission network under the Inter-State Transmission System, distribution upgrades under the Revamped Reforms-Based Distribution Sector Scheme in Valsad, effluent treatment facilities at the Dahej PCPIR and Sarigam GIDC, and utility infrastructure at the Jambusar Bulk Drug Park.

Daman leg: NAMO Airport, hospital and ₹2,970 crore projects

At around 6:15 pm, Modi will inaugurate the new terminal building of NAMO Airport and dedicate NAMO Hospital — the district hospital for Daman — designed to handle close to 1,500 outpatients daily. At 7:15 pm, he will launch projects worth roughly ₹2,970 crore, with ₹1,340 crore worth of works inaugurated and foundation stones laid for projects valued at nearly ₹1,630 crore.

Major upcoming works include the Iconic Bridge, the Daman Convention Centre, and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus in Daman, expected to strengthen infrastructure, attract investment, and create jobs.

Lakshadweep: ₹885 crore maritime push

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for four projects in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep worth around ₹885 crore, including port facilities on the eastern and western sides of Kalpeni Island and Kadmat Island. The multipurpose jetties will enable year-round berthing of large passenger vessels and cruise ships up to 300 metres in length, alongside integrated facilities for fish handling, fuel distribution, ice supply, and boat repair.

The bundled rollout signals continued capex-led messaging from the Centre, with western India infrastructure — expressways, ports, and industrial corridors — at the core. Implementation timelines for the foundation-stone projects are expected to be detailed by respective state and UT administrations in the coming weeks.
