Cairo, Jan 17 (NationPress) The Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, participated in Bharat Milan, a cultural festival held in Obour City, Egypt. During the event, he engaged with members of the Indian diaspora from various regions, emphasizing India's robust people-to-people connections with the Middle Eastern country.
In his speech, the MoS highlighted the vital role of the Indian diaspora, praising their contributions towards Viksit Bharat and their role in strengthening India-Egypt relations as well as cultural exchanges.
“I am delighted to attend Bharat Milan, a lively community cultural festival in Obour City. I had the opportunity to interact with the Indian diaspora from across Egypt and acknowledged their invaluable contributions to achieving Viksit Bharat. They are indeed a crucial pillar in fortifying India-Egypt relations and enhancing cultural and social ties,” Singh shared on X.
On the following Friday, Singh planted a Neem sapling at Al Horreya Park in Cairo, as part of Prime Minister Modi's initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, symbolizing India’s commitment to sustainability and a greener future as part of a global movement for environmental preservation.
Additionally, he paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Al Horreya Park, reaffirming the enduring friendship between India and Egypt, alongside a shared commitment to peace and harmony.
Earlier on Thursday, Singh met with Badr Abdelatty, the Egyptian Foreign Minister, where they engaged in comprehensive discussions aimed at enhancing the India-Egypt Strategic Partnership.
“Our discussions also touched on the upcoming India-Arab Foreign Ministerial Meeting, as well as strengthening cooperation in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, trade, investment, technology, and tourism,” the MoS noted on X.
Singh also met Manal Awad, Egypt’s Minister of Local Development and Environment, where they deliberated on advancing bilateral cooperation in sustainable development, climate financing, renewable energy, and green transitions.
Furthermore, the two parties engaged in fruitful dialogues regarding rural development, waste management, plastic recycling, energy generation, agriculture, and irrigation methodologies.
On Thursday, Singh held a meeting with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, where they discussed various political, economic, and cultural matters.
Both Singh and Gheit expressed enthusiasm for the forthcoming 2nd India-Arab Foreign Ministerial Meet set to take place in New Delhi later this month.
