Bundi, March 5 (NationPress) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the third phase of Suposhit Maa Abhiyan on Wednesday, asserting that a mother is the epitome of compassion and affection.
Speaking to the audience at the event held at the Police Parade Ground in Bundi, Birla mentioned that this initiative is aimed at empowering mothers and safeguarding the health of expectant mothers and their newborns.
He emphasized that Suposhit Maa Abhiyan is more than merely a campaign; it has evolved into a widespread movement. According to Birla, a healthy mother leads to a healthy child, and only a healthy child can contribute to a robust society.
This initiative strives to establish the groundwork for a self-sufficient and healthy society by raising awareness among mothers, he added.
Birla remarked that a mother is not just a source of life but is also the embodiment of compassion, affection, and sacrifice.
Caring for their health is akin to worship. Our aim is to reach women from every underprivileged family and ensure they are well-nourished, Birla asserted.
During the event, while presenting developmental projects in Bundi and Talera Panchayat Samiti regions, Birla also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various projects amounting to Rs 17.13 crore. The Lok Sabha Speaker commenced the campaign by distributing nutrition kits to pregnant women.
With the assistance of social workers, over 1800 pregnant women from disadvantaged families have been identified for health check-ups and monthly distribution of free nutrition kits until delivery.
To guarantee that these women acquire essential nutrition and a balanced diet during their pregnancies, a 12.5 kg nutrition kit has been prepared based on recommendations from expert doctors and nutritionists.
The monthly kit will include 1 kg of Moong Laddu made with Desi Ghee, 3 kg of wheat flour, 1 kg of maize flour, 1 kg of millet flour, 1 kg of rice, 500 grams of soybeans, 300 grams of moong peel, 300 grams of chana dal, 300 grams of moong dal mogar, 300 grams of urad dal chhilka, 1 kg of jaggery, 500 grams of peanuts, 500 grams of roasted gram, 500 grams of dates, and 1 kg of edible oil.
Health cards have also been created for ongoing monitoring of women's health. These cards will facilitate the distribution of nutrition kits during the follow-up camps held monthly, where doctors will provide various free health check-ups and consultations. Reports will be documented in the health cards to assist in organizing follow-ups.
In addition to the necessary health precautions, these women will also receive fundamental information for the proper care of their children.
