Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Madhya Pradesh secured investment proposals worth ₹8,635 crore during a mega investment dialogue with Gujarat's industrial sector in Ahmedabad on 12 August 2025, with the proposed projects expected to generate 5,785 employment opportunities across sectors including cement, packaging, food processing, pharmaceuticals, textiles, engineering, chemicals, and aerospace and defence.
Key Developments
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh held discussions with more than 500 industrialists, investors, and corporate representatives drawn from Ahmedabad, Surat, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, and Vadodara. More than 15 one-to-one meetings were held between the Chief Minister and representatives of major industrial groups, covering investment proposals, industrial expansion, and sector-specific opportunities.
Among the headline proposals discussed were a ₹1,200 crore investment in a PM MITRA Park in the textile and garment sector, and a proposed 1,600 MW thermal power project in Anuppur, covering long-term energy security and future investment opportunities.
Sector-Wise Investment Breakdown
The investment proposals announced at the dialogue were spread across multiple sectors. The cement sector attracted ₹3,000 crore, expected to create 1,500 jobs; packaging drew ₹2,500 crore with 1,000 jobs; and food processing received ₹1,200 crore with 500 jobs. Pharmaceuticals saw a ₹500 crore proposal with 800 jobs, while textiles attracted ₹250 crore and ₹160 crore proposals generating 400 and 600 jobs respectively.
Further proposals included ₹250 crore in engineering (300 jobs), ₹200 crore each in chemicals and packaging (100 jobs each), ₹150 crore in engineering products and systems (160 jobs), ₹100 crore in aerospace and defence (120 jobs), and smaller proposals in food processing and chemicals totalling ₹125 crore with 205 jobs.
What the Government Said
Chief Minister Yadav positioned Madhya Pradesh as an investor-ready destination, assuring participants of policy stability and infrastructure readiness. 'For running an industry, what is primarily needed is a sound policy, good intentions and a supportive government. You will find all three in Madhya Pradesh,' he said.
Inviting Gujarat's industrial community to the Global Investors Summit-2027 in Bhopal, Yadav said: 'You have the experience and we have the opportunities. If your experience comes together with our opportunities, we will create history together.'
The Chief Minister highlighted that industrial land is available on lease at concessional rates, the state has adequate water resources and surplus power, and 48 new industrial parks are being developed across nearly 19,000 acres. He added that Madhya Pradesh has a road network of more than 5 lakh km, eight airports, six inland container depots, and a single-window digital investment clearance system.
Infrastructure and Policy Advantages Cited
Principal Secretary (Science and Technology) M. Selvendran highlighted Madhya Pradesh's potential in the IT sector, noting that Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, and Jabalpur offer world-class facilities at comparatively lower costs. He said a major IT company already employs more than 16,000 staff at its Indore unit, while another technology company is planning expansion in the state.
Selvendran also noted that the government is developing a Space Tech Park and drone manufacturing infrastructure in Bhopal, with a green zone for drone testing. The state's Space Tech Policy provides capital subsidies ranging from 40 to 60 per cent, and the semiconductor policy has reportedly drawn positive industry response.
Broader Investment Context
Chief Minister Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh has received investment proposals worth more than ₹34 lakh crore over the past two-and-a-half years, with more than ₹10 lakh crore of investment already grounded. In the renewable energy, pumped hydro, and biomass sectors alone, proposals worth ₹7.19 lakh crore have been received.
The Ahmedabad outreach is part of a broader pre-summit roadshow ahead of the Global Investors Summit-2027 in Bhopal, with Madhya Pradesh actively courting Gujarat's established industrial base — spanning petrochemicals, chemicals, textiles, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and automobiles — to expand into the central Indian state. Specific infrastructure cited as potential anchors for this cooperation included the petrochemical refinery at Bina, a medical device park spanning 360 acres in Ujjain, PM MITRA parks, and the automobile cluster at Pithampur.
With the Global Investors Summit-2027 on the horizon, the Ahmedabad dialogue signals that Madhya Pradesh is moving well beyond passive pitch decks — the state is now actively benchmarking its infrastructure, policy, and incentive stack against India's most industrially mature regions.
