Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on 15 August 2026 declared that 2027 will be observed as the 'Year of Youth' in the state, anchoring it around seven pillars — education, skill development, entrepreneurship, employment, startups, sports, and leadership. The announcement came during his address at the Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal on the occasion of India's 80th Independence Day, after he hoisted the national flag and took the salute of the parade.

Employment and Skill Commitments

CM Yadav said the state government has already recruited more than 85,000 youth into government service. He pledged that going forward, more than one lakh young people will be provided employment opportunities in the public sector every year. The target for next year includes enrolling more than one lakh youth in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and training 10,000 youth annually at the Global Skill Park.

A dedicated placement cell will be established to bridge the gap between industries and job-seeking youth, Yadav added. This comes as a natural progression after the state observed 2025 as the 'Year of Investment and Employment' and 2026 as the 'Year of Farmer Welfare' — signalling a deliberate, year-by-year thematic governance cycle.

Economic Milestones and Budget

Highlighting the state's fiscal trajectory, CM Yadav said Madhya Pradesh has presented a ₹4.38 lakh crore budget for 2026-27, 10 per cent higher than the previous year, while per capita income has risen by nine per cent. Notably, Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in India to implement a three-year rolling budget. Building on Prime Minister Modi's 'GYAN mantra', the state has developed the 'GYAN-II model' that integrates industry and infrastructure.

MSME, Startups, and Infrastructure Push

Key announcements included setting up an MSME park in every district and developing 10 new MSME clusters. An engineering sector centre will be established in Bhopal at a cost of ₹30 crore. The state aims to grow its startup ecosystem to more than 12,000 startups and create 100 new incubation centres. Youth participation will also be encouraged in emerging sectors including drones, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, space technology, and green manufacturing.

Health, Farmers, and Governance Reforms

From 1 November 2026, patient examinations across the state will become completely paperless, with digital records and online specialist consultations. 1,000 new doctors have been appointed in the last three months, with another 1,000 to be recruited shortly. A second medical university will also be established.

For farmers, the Kavach Yojana has been implemented for financial security, and compensation for land acquisition has been raised to four times the standard rate. CM Yadav also announced the launch of the 'Chief Minister's Public Trust Campaign' on 7 August 2026, under the slogan 'No Delay, No Distance', aimed at resolving public grievances promptly. Its first phase will run until 8 January 2027. Four fast-track courts will be set up for speedy disposal of competitive examination-related cases.

With 2027 now earmarked for youth, Madhya Pradesh's thematic governance approach will face its sharpest test yet — translating ambitious targets into verifiable outcomes for a demographic that is increasingly vocal about employment and opportunity.
