With a single click from the Mantralaya in Bhopal, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Tuesday, 11 August 2026 pushed over ₹310 crore directly into the bank accounts of millions of women and pensioners across Madhya Pradesh — collapsing what once took weeks of bureaucratic relay into a single digital moment.

₹99 crore for 22 lakh women under the gas refill scheme

The first tranche targeted 22 lakh women eligible under the ₹450 gas refill scheme — covering both Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries and non-PMUY women enrolled under Ladli Behna Yojana. A subsidy of more than ₹99 crore was credited to their accounts, effectively bridging the gap between the market price of an LPG cylinder and the capped ₹450 rate the state has committed to these households.

PM Ujjwala Yojana, launched by the central government in May 2016, originally gave free LPG connections to BPL households and has since been extended with targeted refill subsidies. Madhya Pradesh layered its own Ladli Behna Yojana — launched in 2023 to deliver monthly financial support to low-income women — on top of that central architecture, extending the gas subsidy to a wider pool of beneficiaries who fall outside the strict PMUY criteria.

₹211.53 crore in pensions for 35 lakh recipients

In the same session, Dr. Yadav transferred ₹211.53 crore in pension disbursements to 35 lakh beneficiaries under the Samagra Pension Yojana, the state's integrated social security umbrella that consolidates multiple pension categories — elderly, widowed, and differently-abled citizens among them — into a single administrative channel.

Taken together, Tuesday's exercise delivered ₹310-plus crore to a combined 57 lakh households in one sitting. The state has made single-click Direct Benefit Transfers its signature welfare delivery mechanism, arguing the model reduces leakages and eliminates intermediaries who historically siphoned off benefits before they reached recipients.

Why the single-click model matters

Madhya Pradesh's approach — bundling central and state scheme disbursements into a single simultaneous transfer event — reflects a deliberate design choice. By linking @foodsuppliesmp (food and civil supplies) and @socialwelfaremp (social welfare department) under one trigger, the state creates a public, timestamped accountability moment: the Chief Minister initiates, the departments execute, and the beneficiary receives, all at once.
