Bhopal, Nov 25 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held an urgent meeting at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Bhopal on Tuesday night to assess the law and order scenario in the state. This was prompted by a significant public outcry following the rape of a six-year-old girl in Sehore and a series of criminal activities in the capital city.
The meeting saw the participation of Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Director General of Police Kailash Makwana, Commissioner of Police Bhopal Harinarayanchari Mishra, along with other high-ranking officials from the Intelligence department.
During the discussion, CM Yadav expressed his deep frustration with the Sehore police for their inability to apprehend the suspect in the rape case, while the young victim continues to fight for her life at AIIMS Bhopal for the past four days.
He ordered the immediate reassignment of Sehore Superintendent of Police Pankaj Pandey to PHQ and mandated action against additional police personnel in Bhopal due to recent occurrences, including vandalism at a restaurant last week.
“Upon arriving at Police Headquarters, I convened a meeting with the officers. I have directed the transfer of Sehore SP Pankaj Pandey to PHQ. I have also gathered information regarding criminal incidents in Bhopal and have instructed necessary actions against police members,” CM Yadav announced on X.
The rape incident took place on November 21 in Paanjara village under the jurisdiction of Gauharganj police station in Sehore’s Mandeep industrial town, located about 30 km from Bhopal.
The six-year-old girl was lured away with treats by a 23-year-old man while she was playing in her neighborhood.
Despite extensive searches conducted by multiple police teams, the accused remains at large.
The intervention of the Chief Minister occurs amidst escalating criticism of the police's response and rising demands for accountability in addressing crimes against women and children.
