Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on 15 August conducted a ground-level review of healthcare services in the remote Barwani district, focusing on pregnant women, children, sickle cell patients, and malnourished children. He directed health officials to ensure continuous monitoring and timely treatment of all vulnerable beneficiaries in the area.

During his field visit, Chief Minister Yadav sought detailed information from the Community Health Officer on the number of pregnant women in the region, the regularity of their health check-ups, and the identification and tracking of high-risk pregnancies. He also enquired about the total count of sickle cell patients and the status of their ongoing treatment and monitoring.

Yadav examined a health-service map prepared by the Antara Foundation, which charts the locations of pregnant women, high-risk pregnancies, children, sickle cell patients, and malnutrition cases. He stressed that the mapping tool must be deployed effectively to reach beneficiaries before their conditions deteriorate.

Key Directives Issued

'Ensuring healthcare facilities in remote rural areas is a priority of the state government. There must be continuous monitoring of pregnant women, children, sickle cell patients and malnourished children,' CM Yadav said during the visit.

He reviewed data entry on the 'Anmol' portal, which tracks health-related information for beneficiaries, and was informed by the Community Health Officer that data was being regularly updated and essential medicines were available at the centre. He also assessed healthcare activities under the 'Green Commando' campaign, which targets outreach in the remote Pati region of Barwani.

Jan Vishwas Abhiyan: The Larger Framework

The Barwani visit was part of the Jan Vishwas Abhiyan, a state government initiative that mandates field visits by ministers and senior officials every Friday to review scheme implementation, assess public service delivery, and engage directly with citizens. This was the second Friday visit under the campaign.

Notably, the abhiyan represents a structural shift from top-down governance reviews to direct field accountability — placing senior officials in the districts rather than in secretariat conference rooms. Barwani, a tribal-majority district in western Madhya Pradesh, has historically recorded high rates of sickle cell disease and maternal health complications, making the CM's visit particularly significant.
