Bhopal, March 8 (NationPress) A grievous incident occurred where a five-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a fifty-year-old man in the Kanhari village, within the Mehgaon police station jurisdiction of Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh.

Law enforcement acted promptly, apprehending the suspect shortly after receiving a report from the child’s family and lodging a First Information Report (FIR).

A trusted police source communicated with IANS, confirming the suspect's arrest, with ongoing investigations. The accused, hailing from a village in the Rampura police station area of Jalon district, Uttar Pradesh, faces charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with sections 376 and 363 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Due to sensitivity, the name of the accused remains undisclosed. The arrest was facilitated by information provided by the young victim and her parents.

The police reported that the parents learned of the crime on Saturday morning, although the incident had taken place on the night of March 3-4.

Shakti Yadav, the investigating officer and head of the Mehgaon police station, informed IANS that the child's parents were at a relative's wedding on March 3 when the child went missing around 11:30 PM. They searched for her throughout the night.

On March 4, she was discovered outside the relative's house, where the wedding festivities were ongoing. Reports indicated that an unidentified person had left her there.

The situation initially went unnoticed; however, the child's physical discomfort and odd behavior led her parents to investigate further.

The child then shared her traumatic ordeal.

The officer noted that upon returning to Mehgaon, the parents promptly reported the situation to the authorities. The girl underwent a medical examination, which verified the assault. The suspect works as a laborer in the agricultural sector.
