Bhopal, Feb 19 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh government is set to formalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) on February 25, during a visit by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Bhopal.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that this initiative represents a pivotal move towards enhancing the earnings of milk producers and encouraging milk production.
"The MoU will involve the State Co-operative Dairy Federation Limited, associated milk unions, and the NDDB," he noted.
It is important to mention that the Union Home Minister's visit coincides with the closing ceremony of the forthcoming Global Investment Summit on the same day.
The cabinet led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has granted approval for this collaboration agreement, which is now being officially executed.
This agreement will be active for a duration of five years, with potential extensions subject to mutual agreement.
Chief Minister Yadav emphasized that this decision aims to significantly boost the income of milk producers statewide.
"This initiative includes setting up collection centres in every Gram Panchayat, expanding the processing capacity of milk unions, and increasing the number of milk committees," he added.
The Chief Minister further revealed that the Sankalp Patra-2023 of the state government commits to forming dairy cooperative societies and collection centres in each Gram Panchayat to optimize milk procurement and ensure fair prices for dairy farmers.
Plans also encompass augmenting the number of milk coolers, mini dairy plants, and chilling centres across every district, as part of the White Revolution Mission, with an investment of Rs 2,500 crore.
"The agreement will be pivotal in realizing these goals. It will reinforce the cooperative framework and elevate the Sanchi brand under the state’s Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department," he remarked.
The Chief Minister confirmed that collection centres will be established in every Gram Panchayat to ensure efficient milk procurement and equitable pricing for dairy farmers.
Currently, the state boasts 6,000 milk committees, which are set to expand to 9,000. Each milk committee services roughly one to three villages, bringing the total coverage to approximately 18,000 villages.
This expansion is projected to increase daily milk collection from 10.50 lakh kg to 20 lakh kg.
Furthermore, the reach of NDDB through Milk Producer Organisations (MPO) will rise from 1,390 to 2,590 villages, with milk procurement expected to grow from 1.3 lakh kg to 3.7 lakh kg daily.
