The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to continue and strengthen its e-attendance system for teachers and school staff after a review confirmed 95 per cent compliance under the mandatory programme. The decision, announced on 28 August, follows an assessment showing measurable improvement in attendance regularity and the fulfilment of minimum prescribed teaching hours across government schools.

Key Developments from the Review Meeting

The decision emerged from a School Education Department review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at his official residence on Thursday evening. Officials presented data indicating that the AI-based system — operated through the 'Hamare Shikshak' app — has enabled real-time online monitoring of teachers and staff, directly improving instructional time in classrooms.

CM Yadav directed all departments to sustain technology-driven innovations in school management. 'Maximum use of technology simplifies management processes. All districts should make proactive efforts in this direction,' he said.

Infrastructure Push for Government Schools

The meeting also took stock of infrastructure development across government schools. CM Yadav instructed officials to prepare school-wise infrastructure development plans at the district level, prioritising completion of ongoing construction works. District Collectors were directed to coordinate and supervise these efforts.

The Chief Minister stressed the need to ensure regular cleanliness, functional drinking water supply, and operational toilets in all schools through local bodies. He also called for mobilising support from industries, investors, and other stakeholders for infrastructure improvement.

CSR, Alumni, and Multi-Source Funding

CM Yadav suggested organising alumni meets to encourage former students to contribute to their schools' development. Infrastructure support is currently being channelled through CSR funds, District Mineral Foundation (DMF), MP and MLA funds, local bodies, and public participation — a multi-source model that the government is looking to scale further.

Scholarship Scheme Reaches 1.25 Crore Students

The review meeting was also briefed on the Integrated Scholarship Scheme, which has benefited approximately 1.25 crore students over the past two years. A total of ₹696 crore has been transferred directly into students' accounts through the Shiksha Portal, reflecting the state's push toward direct benefit delivery in education.

With the e-attendance system now confirmed for continuation, the focus shifts to whether district-level implementation can sustain the 95 per cent benchmark and whether the infrastructure plans translate into on-ground improvements before the next academic cycle.
