Bengaluru, Sep 29 (NationPress) The Special Court for MLAs and MPs in Bengaluru has postponed the decision regarding the petition challenging the closure report against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his wife related to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case, now set for October 8. Previously, the court had planned to address this matter on Monday.
Activist Snehamyi Krishna has filed a petition seeking rejection of the ‘B’ final report submitted by the Lokayukta, asserting his right to prove the allegations. Furthermore, he has called for the replacement of the Investigating Officer, accusing him of presenting a false report and demanding appropriate action against him.
The petition also requests that directives be issued for filing individual cases based on the survey numbers in the MUDA case.
In an earlier ruling, the Special Court had indicated that a decision regarding the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) objection to the closure report in the MUDA case—which involves the Karnataka CM, his wife B.M. Parvati, his brother-in-law Mallikarjunaswamy, and others—could only be made following the completion of the Karnataka Lokayukta's investigation.
The ED had urged the court to reject the closure report filed by the Karnataka Lokayukta, emphasizing the need for justice and necessary investigative directions in the case.
Previously, the Karnataka Lokayukta submitted a closure report citing insufficient evidence against the parties involved.
The MUDA case pertains to the alleged illicit allocation of 14 sites to the Chief Minister’s wife under a 50:50 ratio scheme in exchange for 3.16 acres of land that her brother, the third accused, had gifted her. It is claimed that the Chief Minister’s wife lacked legal ownership of this 3.16 acres of land.
The Special Court ordered the filing of the PCR on September 25, 2024. The Lokayukta police in Mysuru had registered an FIR that named Siddaramaiah, his family, and others. The ED initiated a case on October 1, 2024, leading to an investigation under the PMLA.
The Karnataka High Court quashed the summons issued by the ED to B.M. Parvati and state Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh in relation to this case on March 7.
