Mumbai Bus Incident: Driver Found Sober

New Delhi, Dec 15 (NationPress) Investigations have confirmed that the driver involved in the bus crash in Maharashtra's Kurla, which led to the death of seven people and injuries to several others, was not under the influence of alcohol.
Driver Sanjay Dutta More, whose blood sample was tested for alcohol, was found to be negative.
Ongoing investigations continue to unfold.
The police are currently treating this as a potential intentional incident, yet the motive behind the driver's actions remains unknown.
On Saturday, the police took statements from individuals associated with the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) administration.
A total of 40 statements have been recorded, and the police are investigating based on these accounts.
On December 9, the BEST bus struck 49 individuals, resulting in the death of seven and colliding with over 30 vehicles.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the bustling Kurla West market when More accelerated the bus, crashing into at least 25 vehicles and causing chaos in the area.
A magistrate's court in Kurla has ordered the bus driver to remain in police custody until December 21.
According to BEST, the driver reportedly lost control of the 12-meter electric bus.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and will cover the full medical expenses for all the injured.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and those responsible will face consequences.
BEST has also proposed a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and established a probe committee led by Chief Manager Ramesh Madavi.
Leaders from the Shiv Sena (UBT), including Aditya Thackeray, Supriya Sule of the Nationalist Congress Party, and M. Arif Naseem Khan from Congress, along with other Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders, have called for a comprehensive investigation into the incident and stringent actions against the offenders.
