Mumbai, March 27 (NationPress) A significant security violation has emerged during the Maharashtra Assembly session, as the Mumbai Police reported on Friday that they have launched a case against five individuals accused of creating and distributing fraudulent entry passes.

Initial reports indicate that the unauthorized production of counterfeit entry passes for entry into the Assembly session was exposed after state Minister Uday Samant raised concerns. This prompted swift action from law enforcement.
According to police officials, five individuals were apprehended during the investigation, with some of them reportedly working at the State Secretariat (Mantralaya). The suspects have been named as Keshav Gunjal, 53, Ganpat Bhau Jawale, 50, Nagesh Shivaji Patil, 42, Manoj Anand Morbale, 40, and Swapnil Ramesh Tayade, 40.
Police sources indicated that a manhunt is underway to locate other suspects believed to be associated with the operation.
This incident has raised significant concerns regarding security lapses during a crucial legislative session. Authorities are currently investigating how the counterfeit passes were produced, who authorized their issuance, and whether there was any insider assistance involved.
The Maharashtra Assembly’s budget session began on February 23 and concluded on March 25.
During this session, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled the State Budget for 2026–27 on March 6, detailing an ambitious financial plan of Rs 7.69 lakh crore. This budget includes a crop loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh for farmers with outstanding dues until September 30, 2025. According to the Chief Minister, around 28–30 lakh farmers are expected to benefit from this initiative. Additionally, approximately 20 lakh farmers who have consistently repaid their loans will receive Rs 50,000 under the ‘Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karjmafi Yojana’.
Several significant legislations, including the Maharashtra Freedom of Religion Bill, 2026, and the Indian Judicial Code (Maharashtra Amendment) Bill, 2026, were also approved during the session.
