Mumbai Police Detain 13 Bangladeshis for Unauthorized Residency in Nalasopara

Mumbai, Jan 5 (NationPress) In a significant crackdown on illegal migrants, Mumbai Police apprehended 13 Bangladeshi nationals who were unlawfully residing in the Nalasopara region of Maharashtra, as per officials.
The arrests occurred during a specialized operation in the Ghatkopar suburb, forming part of a larger initiative aimed at combating unauthorized migrants, as stated by the Mumbai police on Saturday.
As reported by police officials, the apprehended individuals were discovered to have entered and remained in India without appropriate documentation.
The detained nationals have been referred to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) to initiate deportation procedures.
Authorities underscored the importance of complying with the Foreigners Act, highlighting its critical role in ensuring proper monitoring and reporting of foreign nationals within the country.
Efforts are being intensified by the police to identify and take action against illegal migrants in the district.
On Friday, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), in partnership with local police, executed a sequence of raids across Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Solapur, targeting Bangladeshi nationals residing unlawfully, according to a statement from the officials.
During this operation, 13 individuals, comprising seven men and six women, were detained. Investigations revealed that these nationals had employed forged documents to obtain Indian identification, such as Aadhaar cards, which are meant solely for legitimate citizens.
Subsequent to the raids, three cases have been filed under the Foreign Nationals Act, 1946; the Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1950; and the Passport Act, 1967.
Earlier this week, seven cases were registered in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Nashik during comparable operations, culminating in the detention of 17 Bangladeshi nationals.
The ATS and police teams are currently interrogating those detained and investigating the techniques utilized for document forgery and illegal entry into the country.
Ongoing investigations into these latest arrests are in progress, with authorities resolutely committed to curbing illegal migration and preserving national security.
