Gurugram, Jan 27 (NationPress) In a significant move against unlawful immigration, the Gurugram Police have taken into custody three Bangladeshi nationals for residing illegally in the Manesar area without proper documentation.
The individuals reportedly utilized forged documents to enter the country and evade immigration controls, according to police reports.
The detainees have been identified as Fatima alias Lomiya (21), Khadija alias Tanisha (25), and Mohammad Habib (19), all originally from Bangladesh.
During the police inquiry, it was revealed that the three are siblings.
Police reports indicate that Fatima was brought to India by another Bangladeshi girl around three years prior. She subsequently contacted her sister Khadija, inviting her to India. Khadija and Mohammad Habib arrived in India approximately three to four months ago.
Additionally, authorities have registered a case against an unidentified individual who allegedly assisted the trio in creating phony Indian documents, and efforts to locate this person are underway.
The suspects face charges under various sections of the BNS and the Foreigners Act, including sections 14 (A) (B) and (C), as well as sections 12(1)(C) of the Passports Act.
The Gurugram Police have initiated a dedicated campaign to address the issue of Rohingya and other foreigners residing illegally in the city.
As part of this initiative, law enforcement is conducting checks on Rohingya and Bangladeshi individuals living unlawfully in various areas of Gurugram.
In total, 15 police teams have been assembled for this operation, carrying out targeted inspections in places such as slums, residential neighborhoods, and hotels across Gurugram.
Police have emphasized that landlords are responsible for ensuring police verification of tenants, warning that action will be taken against those who fail to comply.
"If anyone is discovered to be residing illegally, appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the law. Furthermore, individuals providing housing without police verification will face FIR registration," stated Sandeep Kumar, a spokesperson for the Gurugram police.
"We urge everyone to conduct police verification for their tenants, workers, and hotel staff to prevent criminal activities in their vicinity. Should you observe any suspicious individuals in your area, promptly inform the police control," he added.
