New Delhi, Feb 7 (NationPress) The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police has officially closed its probe into the ticketing service BookMyShow related to the Coldplay concert ticketing issue, declaring that no irregularities were identified.

The investigation was initiated after a lawyer lodged a complaint, alleging that tickets priced at Rs 2,500 were being resold for up to Rs 3 lakh. The complainant claimed that BookMyShow engaged in fraudulent practices, including price hikes and unfair ticketing systems, and sought legal action.

Claims were also made that BookMyShow utilized ticket bots to distort the ticketing process, thereby hindering genuine fans from acquiring tickets at the original price, as indicated by the police.

However, following a detailed investigation, the Mumbai Police determined that no evidence corroborated these accusations.

The controversy surfaced when Coldplay concert tickets were made available through BookMyShow on September 22, 2024, and reportedly sold out in under 30 minutes. Numerous users asserted they were logged out prior to the sale start, while others noted tickets listed on resale websites at exorbitantly inflated prices, sometimes 30 to 40 times the original value.

Despite these issues, the Mumbai Police concluded there was no misconduct or illegal activities conducted by BookMyShow. With no solid evidence of ticket manipulation, fraud, or price gouging, the case has been formally closed.

In a recent statement, BookMyShow emphasized that it does not partner with any ticket-selling or reselling entities, nor does it work with third-party individuals for resale activities.

After an eight-year hiatus, the famous British rock band Coldplay performed in India as part of their 'Music of the Spheres' World Tour, showcasing concerts in both Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

The band consists of four primary members: Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion, along with their manager Phil, who is considered the fifth member.
