Patna, April 16 (NationPress) The recent surge of violence in Murshidabad, West Bengal, has prompted strong political reactions from both the NDA and Congress in Bihar.
Bihar PHED Minister Neeraj Kumar Bablu criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claiming that her government is shirking its constitutional duties.
“The situation in Bengal resembles that of Bangladesh and Pakistan. The Mamata administration is neglecting its responsibilities,” the minister stated.
Ramkripal Yadav, a former BJP MP from Patliputra, supported Bablu’s remarks and accused the Trinamool government of facilitating targeted violence.
“Violence in West Bengal is occurring under the protection of Mamata Banerjee. People are fleeing. No one feels safe. The conditions in Murshidabad are dire,” he remarked.
Yadav further charged the West Bengal government with allowing assaults on specific communities.
“The Central government is closely monitoring the situation. All necessary measures will be taken when deemed appropriate,” he assured.
Regarding the potential for President’s Rule, he noted, “Should the government fail to safeguard life and dignity, constitutional options will be explored.”
Conversely, Congress MP Tariq Anwar accused the violence of being a part of a communal political strategy spearheaded by the BJP and RSS.
“This is entirely the BJP and RSS's agenda. They aim to polarize elections by inciting religious tensions,” stated Anwar, who is currently on a five-day visit to his constituency in Katihar.
He stressed the need for social cohesion and voiced concerns over unrest related to the Waqf, urging citizens to await the Supreme Court's ruling.
“This violence is regrettable and jeopardizes the nation’s unity. Citizens should wait for the court's decision instead of falling into divisive traps,” Anwar concluded.
