Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 2 (NationPress) Umrain Mahfooz Rahmani, the Secretary of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, vehemently denounced the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during US-Israel airstrikes, labeling the act as “utterly unacceptable” and a significant threat to global peace.
In an interview with IANS, Rahmani stated, “The aggressive stance exhibited by the United States and Israel, combined with Israel's relentless assaults on Gaza and Palestine, raises profound concerns for world peace. These actions warrant unequivocal condemnation. The global community seeks peace, not conflict. Genuine peace and harmony arise when there is mutual respect for boundaries. The reckless actions of the US and Israel, alongside their assault on Iran, cannot be tolerated.”
He continued, “Iran has remained resolute, and a revered leader (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei) has been martyred. This represents a grave loss for Islam. He stood firm against oppression and conveyed a powerful message of resistance. His martyrdom has reverberated not only through the Shia community but across the world, drawing condemnation from his followers globally.”
Rahmani further emphasized, “The struggle between righteousness and wrongdoing is perpetual. Now, we must consider how to protect our communities and safeguard our nations. It is undeniable that individuals will attempt to inflict harm whenever possible.”
These comments followed the reports of Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei being killed in US-Israel airstrikes.
Additionally, reports from Iran’s Fars News Agency indicated that four of Khamenei's relatives, including his daughter, grandchild, and son-in-law, were also reportedly killed.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social that Khamenei had been killed in collaborative US-Israeli strikes, branding it the “single greatest opportunity” for Iranians to regain control of their nation. Trump described Khamenei as “one of the most malevolent figures in history” and characterized the strikes as “justice for the people of Iran, as well as for all great Americans and individuals from various countries who have suffered at his hands.”
Trump further asserted that Khamenei “could not evade our advanced intelligence and tracking systems, and, in cooperation with Israel, there was nothing he or the other leaders killed alongside him could do.”
