Bengaluru, Nov 21 (NationPress) Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, remarked that religious mutts are outperforming the government in managing schools in Karnataka by offering education to the economically disadvantaged and underprivileged.
This statement was made during the inauguration of the 17th BGS Foundation Day and BGS Utsav, hosted by the Sri Adichunchanagiri Education Trust in Bengaluru.
Kumaraswamy criticized the state government for its actions toward closing schools it administers, stating, “The government is shutting down schools where children of farmers, the poor, and economically weaker sections receive education. In contrast, mutts are providing food, education, and shelter to these children.”
He emphasized that while establishing educational institutions is straightforward, their effective management is challenging. However, mutts are operating these institutions with remarkable efficiency and dedication. Their vision and commitment to society have made this achievement possible,” the Union Minister commented.
He further noted that these mutts are not only managing educational institutions but are also delivering quality education. In addition to their social services, they are selflessly involved in spirituality.
“Future generations require a strong and value-oriented education. In this context, the Adichunchanagiri Mutt is at the forefront of raising societal awareness,” he added.
The event was honored by the presence of Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji of Adichunchanagiri Mutt, Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji of Suttur Mutt, and Siddalinga Mahaswamiji of Siddaganga Mutt.
Also in attendance were Prakashanath Swamiji, head of the Adichunchanagiri Education Trust, Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, Public TV chief H.R. Ranganath, Guarantee News chief Shivaswami, senior actress Malashree, actress Aradhana, and numerous others.
The Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math, a historic religious institution, has prioritized basic necessities like 'Anna, Akshara, and Arogya' (food, education, and health) through the efforts of Jagadguru Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji.
Since 2007, Balagangadharanatha Mahaswami has launched over four hundred recognized educational institutions, serving more than 70,000 students, many of whom hail from rural backgrounds.
