New Delhi, Oct 19 (NationPress) The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has been recognized for its exemplary efforts in activating over 2,000 Anganwadi Centres in tribal regions, receiving an award for its significant contribution to the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN), as announced by an official on Sunday.
By ensuring the functionality of these Anganwadi Centres in the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) areas, the MWCD has successfully empowered communities at the grassroots level, according to a post shared by the WCD Ministry on X.
The accolade was presented to Anil Malik, Secretary of MWCD, by President Droupadi Murmu during the National Conclave on 'Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan', which took place in Delhi on October 17.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the PM JANMAN initiative on November 15, 2023, aimed at fostering socio-economic development among 75 PVTG communities spread across 18 states and one Union Territory.
This mission is designed to enhance living conditions through essential services such as safe housing, clean drinking water, and improved access to education, healthcare, nutrition, road and telecom connectivity, electrification of unelectrified households, and sustainable livelihood options within a three-year timeframe.
To achieve these goals, 11 interventions are being executed by nine different Ministries. The PM JANMAN program has an extensive budgetary allocation of Rs 24,104 crore (with a Central share of Rs 15,336 crore and a State share of Rs 8,768 crore).
In collaboration with State Governments, awareness camps have been conducted to assist in creating essential documents like Aadhar Cards, Caste certificates, and Jan Dhan bank accounts, which are crucial for accessing various benefits under schemes like Ayushman Card, PM Awas, and MNREGA, as detailed in a report by the Tribal Affairs Ministry.
During the tribal Conclave, the President highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring the holistic development of tribal communities.
She emphasized that the true advancement of a nation and society hinges on the development of all societal segments.
The President reaffirmed that governmental efforts are aimed not only at providing financial assistance to tribal populations but also at offering opportunities for education, healthcare, employment, technical skills, and equitable participation in governance.
Additionally, she honored the best-performing states, districts, blocks, and Integrated Tribal Development Agencies during the Delhi event.
“This conclave exemplifies our national determination to make governance genuinely participatory, inclusive, and reliant on community involvement,” the President stated.
