Kohima, July 8 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, has reiterated the profound historical and cultural connections between India and Japan, characterizing them as "civilizational links based on shared democratic ideals, religious coexistence, and a dedication to peace and humanity."

Rio arrived in Tokyo on July 5, leading a high-level delegation aimed at identifying opportunities for collaboration, partnerships, and developmental projects with various stakeholders, including government entities, private businesses, and civil society organizations.

During this visit, several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements were established in fields such as sports, the creation of an engineering college, student and policy exchanges, peace-building, and other multi-sectoral initiatives.

A government official from Nagaland noted that during a series of high-profile meetings in Tokyo, Rio stressed the unique bond between the people of Nagaland and Japan.

All meetings were attended by officials from the Indian Embassy and supported by government representatives.
