Key Takeaways
Amaravati, Feb 25 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, emphasized the urgent necessity for officials to prioritize public health during a recent meeting.
During discussions with the Medical and Health Department, he assessed the ongoing diarrhoea outbreak in Srikakulam, along with a milk adulteration case in Rajahmundry.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to never overlook public health and urged for inter-departmental cooperation to prevent similar incidents in the future.
He engaged with senior health department officials and district representatives to gather insights.
As per official reports, he inquired about the status of patients currently being treated for the outbreaks in Srikakulam and Rajahmundry.
Specifically, he sought updates on two patients in critical condition at Srikakulam GEMS Hospital, where one is on ventilator support and the other requires dialysis.
Naidu insisted that these patients receive immediate and special care. He also pressed officials to confirm if additional cases were emerging at the field level.
Currently, 76 patients are being treated across various hospitals in Srikakulam, with all but two reported to be in stable condition.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the pipeline water supply has been suspended, and safe drinking water is being provided through alternative means.
In Rajahmundry, those affected by milk adulteration are under constant medical supervision.
The Chief Minister was updated that milk samples had already been dispatched for laboratory analysis, with the health department maintaining vigilant oversight of the situation.
On Tuesday, Veerapandian, the State Health and Family Welfare Department Commissioner, reported that the condition of seven individuals in Rajahmundry is critical.
Of the 15 patients currently hospitalized, three are on ventilators, two require dialysis, and three are receiving both treatments; among them are two children, including a five-month-old infant.
Tragically, four fatalities have been recorded thus far, though no new cases were reported on Tuesday. Veerapandian reassured the media that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure optimal treatment for those hospitalized.
