Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made this announcement during a session in the Legislative Assembly.
Additionally, the government will cover the medical costs for those receiving treatment in hospitals.
Describing the incident as deeply distressing, the Chief Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.
During his address, he informed the Assembly that the affected individuals exhibited symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain, and severe kidney issues. Clinical tests revealed elevated levels of urea and serum creatinine in their blood.
According to the Chief Minister, the Varalakshmi Milk Dairy from Narasapuram village in Korukonda mandal provides milk to 106 households in two regions of Rajahmundry each day.
Authorities confirmed that the victims became ill after consuming milk from this dairy. Unfortunately, four individuals lost their lives, while ten others are currently under medical care, with two in critical condition on ventilators. Among the deceased, three were over 70 years old, and one was 58.
The Chief Minister mentioned that blood samples from the affected individuals have been collected and sent for testing to laboratories in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.
He disclosed that the dairy manager, Addala Ganeswara Rao, has been detained for questioning by the police, and a case has been initiated based on the complaints of the deceased's family members.
"We will take stringent actions against anyone involved in this adulteration driven by greed. The culprits will face consequences following the investigation," the Chief Minister asserted.
He emphasized that the government will not tolerate any actions that jeopardize public welfare due to adulteration.
Upon learning about the incident, where locals fell ill and several fatalities occurred due to adulterated milk in Chowdeshwari Nagar and Swaroop Nagar areas of Rajahmundry, Chief Minister Naidu conducted a review with officials.
In a meeting with the District Collector, Superintendent of Police, Medical and Health Department, and Food Safety officials, he sought details regarding the incident and the medical aid being extended to the victims.
Naidu instructed that the highest quality medical assistance be provided to those receiving treatment. Officials reported that samples were taken from 75 individuals in the families who consumed the contaminated milk, with further sampling ongoing.
He directed senior officials from the Food Safety and Medical and Health Departments to promptly visit Rajahmundry to oversee the situation.
Naidu reconvened with ministers and officials later in the afternoon to review the circumstances.
