New Delhi, March 25 (NationPress) BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday vehemently condemned the Congress party in light of the accusations of phone tapping made by Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, R. Ashoka. The LoP claimed that the government was involved in surveillance of Opposition leaders as well as ministers and individuals within its own faction.
In an interview with IANS, Naqvi remarked that the Congress has a notorious background in espionage, making this allegation unsurprising.
"The Congress party is synonymous with espionage, and I assert this because they have historically participated in such activities. You might recall that during their tenure, the Home Minister and Finance Minister were in charge of overseeing spying operations. This behavior is not new; the Congress has a longstanding history of these practices," Naqvi stated.
Regarding comedian Kunal Kamra's alleged jab at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his refusal to express remorse, Naqvi commented, "It’s crucial to understand that freedom of expression should not equate to anarchic behavior. It's not merely about chaotic expressions.
"Certain individuals are misusing their right to free speech as an excuse for reckless conduct. Just because one is entitled to express their opinions does not grant them the liberty to insult or ridicule others. These individuals need to dispel the fallacy that their anarchic behavior is safeguarded under the premise of free speech."
On a different note related to the upcoming elections in Bihar, where the BJP is trying to connect with Muslim voters through its 'Saugat-e-Modi' initiative ahead of Eid, which has led Opposition parties to accuse them of only acknowledging Muslims during election time, Naqvi defended this initiative.
He stated, "Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, our administration has been striving for the upliftment of the most marginalized communities, ensuring equitable development for all, without bias. Anyone who questions PM Modi’s track record, even those who oppose him, recognize that he has been a proponent of inclusive growth. He has dismantled the communal divides that once existed."
Naqvi also commented on the situation in West Bengal, where reports have surfaced indicating that the names of Hindu voters are allegedly being removed from the electoral rolls.
"It is perplexing to see Bengal transform into a state where nationalists are assaulted, while those involved in anti-national activities receive backing. It appears that law and order have deteriorated, and constitutional protocols are being ignored. There is a state of chaos and violence that tarnishes the integrity of any elected administration. It seems that certain forces have commandeered the electoral process and are orchestrating these incidents," Naqvi noted.
Earlier on Monday, BJP's Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, claimed, "Hindu voters' names are being removed from the voter list. I call upon the Election Commission to dismiss the BDO of Krishnanagar."
