New Delhi, Sep 8 (NationPress) - Peter Navarro, the Trade Advisor to US President Donald Trump, unleashed a fierce critique against Elon Musk's social media platform X on Monday, while also condemning India for sourcing Russian oil, labeling it as blood money.
In his statement, Navarro employed explicit language, asserting that prior to the Ukraine war, India did not engage in significant purchases of Russian oil.
"Fact: India didn't buy Russian oil in large quantities before Russia invaded Ukraine. It's blood money and people are dying," he declared.
This incident follows a contentious exchange between Navarro and Musk on the platform.
Previously, Navarro accused India of acquiring Russian oil solely for financial gain and criticized the Indian government’s position, urging: "Stop killing Ukrainians. Stop taking American jobs."
He also berated Musk for permitting what he termed “misleading notes” on X, following a flag from Community Notes.
In response, Musk stated: "On this platform, the people decide the narrative… You hear all sides of an argument. Community Notes corrects everyone, no exceptions. Notes data & code is public source. Grok provides further fact-checking."
India’s Ministry of External Affairs dismissed Navarro’s claims, labeling them as inaccurate and misleading.
Navarro had earlier targeted India’s foreign policy, questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interactions with Russian and Chinese leaders at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, asserting that “India needs to be with us, not Russia.”
Meanwhile, Trump has consistently lauded the India-US partnership, describing it as a “very special relationship.”
Although he previously expressed concern over “losing” India to China, he later clarified, “I’ll always be friends” with Prime Minister Modi.
PM Modi reciprocated this sentiment, stating he values and fully acknowledges President Trump’s remarks.
