Mumbai, Feb 14 (NationPress) In preparation for the forthcoming local and civic body elections in Maharashtra, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), under the leadership of Ajit Pawar, has established a seven-member core group aimed at enhancing the party's organizational structure, executing various policies, and promoting government welfare initiatives throughout the state.

The newly formed core group includes Ajit Pawar, the party's national president and Deputy Chief Minister, alongside working president Praful Patel, state unit president Sunil Tatkare, former Ministers Chhagan Bhujbal and Dilip Walse-Patil, Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, and Food and Civil Supply Minister Dhananjay Munde.

Despite growing calls for his resignation due to alleged corruption during his ministerial role in the state agriculture department, Munde remains a member of the core group. There is also pressure from both ruling and opposition parties for his resignation following the recent murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, with his close associate Walmik Karad being charged under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.

According to Tatkare, the core group's purpose is to enhance the party's organization ahead of the local and civic body elections in Maharashtra. The group will be responsible for developing policies for organizational growth and determining various programs to achieve this goal, along with ensuring the effective implementation of these policies.

This initiative follows NCP's recent success, having secured 41 Assembly seats by forming alliances with the BJP and Shiv Sena, despite only winning one seat in the Lok Sabha elections.

During the party's Navsankalp Shibir held last month, Ajit Pawar urged party members to prepare for the upcoming local and civic elections, emphasizing the importance of continuing the party's winning streak, especially after their significant victory in the recent Assembly elections. He encouraged cadres to work diligently towards NCP's consolidation, stating, 'We should all remember that the coming era should belong to the NCP.'

Furthermore, Ajit Pawar provided guidance on how the party should strategize for the local and civic body elections, urging members to increase voter outreach and strengthen the party's organizational structure. He noted, 'There are elections for municipal corporations and local bodies in the coming period. Every aspirant for the ticket or the party post should select a responsible worker who should be given the responsibility of 25 houses.' This approach would enable the party to connect with approximately 100 voters per worker.

In reference to the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation election, Ajit Pawar mentioned the implementation of a four-member ward system. 'Now each candidate will have to prepare a batch of 50 workers in every ward; this will lead to a force of 200 people that can work and vote for the party,' he added.

He urged all office-bearers and party members to concentrate on expanding the party's presence in their communities, ensuring that the NCP's flag and messaging reach every household.
