NCP Calls on Maharashtra CM Fadnavis for Urgent Probe into Ajit Pawar's Plane Crash
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 10 (NationPress) A delegation from the NCP, which included a Minister and several MLAs, presented a formal request to Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday, urging for a rapid investigation into the unfortunate demise of the late Ajit Pawar, the former Deputy Chief Minister, who tragically lost his life in a plane crash on January 28 in Baramati.
The group, including Women and Child Welfare Minister Aditi Tatkare and legislators Chetan Tupe, Sulabha Khodke, Sana Malik, Saroj Ahire, Anil Patil, and Shekhar Nikam, implored the state administration to guarantee that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) finalize their investigations and publish a detailed concluding report promptly.
A statement from the NCP indicated that party leaders are concerned about the slow progress of the investigation.
The memorandum stresses the necessity for transparency and technical clarity surrounding the circumstances of the plane crash that resulted in the untimely passing of the late NCP leader.
“The state and the nation are entitled to the facts regarding this incident. We have urged the Chief Minister to coordinate with federal agencies to ensure the final report is disclosed without unnecessary delay,” stated a senior NCP official.
This demand arises from a shocking event that transpired months ago when a private aircraft carrying the esteemed NCP leader crashed under enigmatic conditions.
Given the high-profile nature of the victim, the state government promptly transferred the case to the CID, while the central government initiated a concurrent CBI inquiry to eliminate any suspicions of foul play or mechanical failure.
However, the prolonged wait for the final report has led to numerous speculations within political circles.
The NCP is now striving to provide closure to its supporters and the Pawar family, intensifying pressure on the ruling Maharashtra government to clarify the situation.
Chief Minister Fadnavis assured the NCP delegation that the state government is dedicated to a fair and thorough investigation.
He acknowledged that the technical nature of aviation investigations requires time but promised to personally check the status of the files with the investigating agencies.
Previously, NCP-SP legislator Rohit Pawar raised a series of allegations concerning the aviation accident involving Ajit Pawar.
He called for a more in-depth investigation into whether the incident was a genuine accident or a calculated attempt on the late NCP leader's life.
According to Rohit Pawar, the visibility on the day of the crash was notably poor, measuring merely 3,000 meters.
He asserted that the pilot, Captain Kapoor, had informed the owner of VSR Ventures, V.K. Singh, that takeoff was unfeasible due to weather conditions.
“Captain Kapoor explicitly told V.K. Singh about the poor visibility and the impossibility of takeoff. Nevertheless, Singh allegedly instructed him to proceed, stating, 'You take off, I will handle the rest later,'” claimed Rohit Pawar.
He insisted that the Call Detail Records of V.K. Singh would serve as critical evidence of this discussion.
Focusing on the pilot's mental state, Rohit Pawar pointed out that medical reports confirmed Captain Kapoor had no traces of drugs, alcohol, or toxins in his system.
“If the pilot was sober and professional, why did he take such risks? We must investigate deeper into the pressures he faced. Why is V.K. Singh being protected?” he questioned.
