Amaravati, June 12 (NationPress) Development and welfare are regarded as the two essential pillars of the TDP-led NDA administration in Andhra Pradesh, as articulated by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during a press conference on Thursday, marking the conclusion of the government's inaugural year in office.
Accompanied by his son, Nara Lokesh, the Minister for Human Resources Development and IT, the Chief Minister held a media briefing at their residence in Undavalli to celebrate the milestone.
During the conference, the Chief Minister highlighted various welfare initiatives launched within the past year, stating that additional schemes will be introduced in the near future.
The leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) reaffirmed their commitment to creating wealth and boosting revenues, as promised during the election campaign.
He emphasized that the increased revenues would be allocated towards development and welfare projects.
To commemorate their first year in governance, the coalition government introduced the 'Talli Ki Vandanam' scheme, a special initiative aimed at supporting mothers.
Under this program, an annual amount of Rs 15,000 will be provided for each school-going child, credited directly to the mother's bank account.
Chief Minister Naidu announced a budget of Rs 10,091 crore for this scheme, which is expected to benefit 67 lakh students, with Rs 1,346 crore allocated for school development.
He mentioned that the government would continue the 'Jagananna Amma Vodi' guidelines established by the previous administration, but with a key difference: unlike the former government that assisted only one child per family, his government will offer aid for all children.
Previously, the government led by Jagan Mohan Reddy offered Rs 15,000 annually to economically disadvantaged mothers for their children's education. The TDP-led coalition has since renamed the initiative 'Talli Ki Vandanam'.
This scheme is part of the coalition's 'Super Six' promises.
CM Naidu noted that the previous administration's program had 42,61,965 beneficiaries, whereas 'Talli Ki Vandanam' will extend coverage to 67,27,164 students, marking an increase of 24,65,199 beneficiaries.
He also highlighted that the previous government allocated Rs 5,540 crore for the scheme, while his administration would enhance this to Rs 8,745 crore.
"We are providing an extra Rs 3,205 crore. In cases where a student does not have a mother, funds will be deposited into the father or guardian's account," he stated.
District Collectors will be tasked with identifying orphans, ensuring funds are credited to their accounts. The list of beneficiaries will be made public at village and ward secretariats.
The scheme will also encompass students entering Class 1 and Intermediate First Year. Following the completion of admissions and data collection, funds will be allocated accordingly to the mothers' accounts.
