New Delhi, Jan 11 (NationPress) The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has initiated a thorough civic enhancement project across its area as it prepares for the esteemed India AI Impact Summit 2026, which is set to take place from February 15 to 20, as announced by an official on Sunday.

Designed to serve as a significant global forum on inclusive artificial intelligence, the summit will attract world leaders, policymakers, innovators, and distinguished AI experts to New Delhi, positioning the city prominently on the international stage, according to the official statement.

In its quest to enhance air quality during the summit, the NDMC is deploying smog guns, mist sprayers, water sprinklers, and implementing strict measures against polluters.

With a high concentration of hotels and diplomatic activity in NDMC regions, targeted efforts are underway to improve the urban aesthetics and environmental conditions.

As part of the summit's public engagement efforts, Central Park at Connaught Place has been designated to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology from February 16 to 20, where leading AI companies will set up interactive stalls for public outreach and demonstrations.

The revitalization plan also encompasses significant locations hosting pre-event activities and bilateral discussions, including Hyderabad House, Vigyan Bhawan, Ambedkar Bhawan, Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, major five-star hotels, and the India Gate area.

Furthermore, roads leading to notable tourist hotspots such as Connaught Place, Central Park, Lodhi Garden, Humayun's Tomb, Delhi Haat, Nehru Park, and nearby areas are undergoing thorough upgrades.

To ensure enhanced civic amenities, NDMC is focusing on road and footpath maintenance, achieving 100% operational status of street and pole lights across roads, roundabouts, and market areas, along with the removal of overhead cables near monuments to improve the city’s visual appeal.

Plans for decorative and aesthetic lighting are also in progress to elevate the city’s ambiance during the event, as stated in the announcement.

In alignment with the goal of delivering a G20-level experience, NDMC has initiated an extensive civic improvement initiative throughout its jurisdiction.

The preparations aim to showcase India's technological capabilities, urban excellence, and renowned hospitality through world-class infrastructure, immaculate cleanliness, enhanced lighting, and aesthetic enhancements.

"These initiatives are being undertaken under the guidance of Rajeev Verma, Chief Secretary of the Government of NCT of Delhi, to ensure a lasting global impression of a modern, efficient, and welcoming capital city," the statement noted.

Operational readiness is another crucial aspect of the preparations, the statement indicated, adding that NDMC is establishing a dedicated control room, deploying nodal officers, and utilizing mechanical road sweepers in sensitive and high-visibility areas.

Close collaboration with security agencies, traffic authorities, and other civic bodies is being maintained to ensure smooth transit for dignitaries, effective parking management, and seamless logistical arrangements.

Measures to manage stray animals in critical areas are also being intensified to ensure safety and order, as per the statement.
