The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination got underway on Sunday, 21 June at centres across India and internationally, with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and state officials asserting that the Union government has taken extensive precautions to ensure a smooth and transparent retest. Security deployments, traffic diversions, and dedicated rest zones were among the measures put in place ahead of the high-stakes examination.

What BJP Leaders Said

Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood said the Union Education Ministry had approached the examination with meticulous preparation. 'The government is keeping a close watch on social media and is conducting the exam with great precaution nationwide. We extend our best wishes for a bright future to all students,' he said. Sood also noted that approximately 100 cooling zones had been set up across exam centres in Delhi, where students and parents arriving early could rest before the test.

BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, speaking on the sidelines of Yoga Day celebrations at the Parliament House premises, assured reporters that all necessary steps had been taken. 'It will be successfully conducted. My best wishes to all the students,' he said.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak echoed the sentiment, stating: 'The NEET examination is being conducted smoothly and successfully. It is our government's commitment to protect the interests of our youth and students at all costs. All officers are fulfilling their duty with utmost caution.'

Security and Traffic Arrangements on the Ground

In Bihar, police personnel were deployed for last-minute traffic management and security. Patna Traffic Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Anil Kumar said commercial vehicles had been diverted from routes leading to exam centres to ease congestion caused by the large number of candidates and their guardians. 'We have made these arrangements so that there is no pressure on the routes,' he said.

In Muzaffarpur, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kantesh Mishra confirmed force deployment across all relevant units, including at railway stations. 'Police personnel will remain present at all examination centres, and we will make every effort to ensure that the examination is conducted peacefully and smoothly,' he said.

Other State Leaders Extend Wishes

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida extended her wishes to students, saying: 'I hope all students remain mentally fit and perform well in the exam.' The retest follows a controversy-ridden earlier edition of NEET-UG, making the integrity and logistics of this re-examination a matter of national scrutiny.
