New Delhi, July 29 (NationPress) Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated on Tuesday that as the country progresses towards the vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047', the National Education Policy (NEP) is acting as a national mission that paves the way forward.
During the inauguration of the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2025 in New Delhi, celebrating five years of NEP 2020, Pradhan remarked that the government has successfully transitioned NEP 2020 from a mere policy to actual practice — creating a significant shift in the education landscape and reaching classrooms, campuses, and communities.
He emphasized that NEP 2020 embodies the transformative vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who prioritizes education as central to India’s developmental narrative.
“Viksit Bharat is not just a vision but a compelling call to action from PM Modi. He believes that NEP 2020 serves as the most effective tool to fulfill this aspiration,” he articulated.
Pradhan highlighted that the essence of Indian culture is embedded in NEP 2020, showcasing a strong emphasis on scientific education, innovation, research, Indian knowledge systems, and Indian languages, aligning education with the broader objectives of nation-building.
The Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2025 provided a platform for academicians, policymakers, educators, industry leaders, and government representatives to evaluate the significant advancements made under NEP 2020 and strategize for the future.
Also present were Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Education and Development of North Eastern Region Sukanta Majumdar, along with Education Ministers from 13 states and Union Territories.
The event began with dignitaries paying floral tributes to Padma Vibhushan Dr. K. Kasturirangan, Chairman of the Drafting Committee of NEP 2020, honoring his visionary leadership and groundbreaking contributions to India’s education and space sectors.
A welcome song performed by students of Kendriya Vidyalayas set a lively tone for the gathering.
Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary also conveyed the Prime Minister’s message on the fifth anniversary of NEP 2020.
