Itanagar, July 18 (NationPress) In a move to bolster internal security, the government of Arunachal Pradesh announced on Friday its decision to establish an additional Arunachal Armed Police Battalion (AAPBN), as confirmed by officials.
A representative from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) disclosed that the state cabinet has sanctioned the formation of another AAPBN to enhance the state’s internal security apparatus.
The cabinet meeting was presided over by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
The spokesperson indicated that the new AAPBN will be classified as an India Reserve (IR) battalion and can be deployed in any part of the country upon request from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Currently, Arunachal Pradesh is home to seven AAPBN, which includes five IR battalions.
“The introduction of this new battalion will significantly strengthen the policing capabilities, enhance public safety, uphold law and order, and lessen reliance on Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). Furthermore, it will create job opportunities for eligible local youth,” the official stated.
The state cabinet also ratified a series of impactful resolutions aimed at enhancing technical education, child protection, and administrative efficiency.
To uplift technical education, the cabinet sanctioned the establishment of 34 teaching and non-teaching positions at the government engineering college in Toru, located in the Papum Pare district.
Moreover, the cabinet approved the adoption of Model Guidelines for Support Persons in accordance with Section 39 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, tailored with necessary state-specific modifications.
The revised guidelines stipulate the assignment of one support person for every ten cases to assist child victims during pre-trial and trial periods, while outlining the qualifications, selection process, duties, and responsibilities of these personnel, as per the CMO.
The cabinet also authorized the establishment of three Deputy Director (Prosecution) roles, ten Assistant Director (Prosecution) roles, and 18 clerical positions within the Directorate of Prosecution.
Current Additional Public Prosecutors will be re-designated as Deputy Directors.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the adjustment of the salary structure for Public Prosecutors, Additional Public Prosecutors, and Assistant Public Prosecutors to ensure pay parity in accordance with government standards.
In a bid to bolster civil aviation activities in the region, the Cabinet approved the creation of ten posts within the Directorate of Civil Aviation. These cabinet decisions reflect the state government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing public service delivery, governance infrastructure, employment opportunities, and citizen welfare,” the official concluded.
