Bengaluru, Sep 1 (NationPress) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced on Monday that seasoned officials with significant administrative backgrounds will be appointed as commissioners for the five corporations established under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).
While addressing journalists at Vidhana Soudha, he shared, “We have had discussions regarding the appointment of officials for these corporations, and we intend to select those currently serving locally.”
When questioned about the utilization of helicopters and aircraft for government duties, he remarked, “This matter has been under government consideration for several years. The Chief Minister entrusted me with the responsibility to make a decision on this and to initiate the tender process. We are examining models from other states and engaging in discussions with HAL as well.”
In response to queries regarding corruption allegations within the Bhovi Development Corporation, he stated, “I currently lack information on that; I will gather details from the relevant minister.”
It is noteworthy that the GBA facilitates the establishment of five civic corporations in the Greater Bengaluru area.
The new municipal bodies include Bengaluru West City Corporation, Bengaluru North City Corporation, Bengaluru East City Corporation, Bengaluru South City Corporation, and Bengaluru Central City Corporation.
Although the total area of the GBA remains equivalent to that of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), which covers 712 square km, each of the newly formed city corporations encompasses areas ranging from 78 square kilometers to 168 square kilometers.
Shivakumar further accused the BJP of orchestrating a distraction in Dharmasthala to shift focus away from the party's internal conflicts.
“Isn’t the BJP satisfied with the SIT investigation? The 'Dharmasthala Chalo' event is merely their tactic to divert attention from their disputes. Initially, the BJP welcomed the formation of SIT, but now they are singing a different tune,” he stated.
He added, “The BJP never sought justice for Dharmasthala. It is a plot by certain BJP members to sully the reputation of Dharmasthala.”
