Guwahati, May 1 (NationPress) In a pivotal move aimed at bolstering border security and safeguarding both railway assets and passengers, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has initiated joint patrolling efforts in collaboration with the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Border Security Force (BSF) in sensitive regions along the India-Bangladesh border, as confirmed by officials on Thursday.

NFR's Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, stated that the joint patrolling with GRP and BSF is designed to enhance surveillance and prevent any potential incidents along the railway tracks situated near international boundaries.

This joint effort spans across various divisions within NFR, focusing particularly on areas adjacent to the India-Bangladesh border. The initiative underscores a commitment to inter-agency coordination and vigilance, according to the CPRO.

A significant component of this initiative involves a thorough security check at Badarpur railway station, located in southern Assam within the Lumding Division. Security personnel meticulously examined the station premises, platforms, and surrounding areas to detect and prevent unauthorized activities, thereby ensuring the safety of travelers.

Additionally, a notable joint motor trolley inspection was performed between the Silchar and Katakhal sections of the Lumding Division. Teams from RPF, GRP, and BSF conducted an in-depth review of railway infrastructure, searching for signs of tampering, intrusion, or potential threats, while assessing the overall readiness of safety systems in the region, Sharma noted.

Moreover, joint foot patrolling was conducted in the Alipurduar division from New Maynaguri to New Domohani railway station. This on-foot inspection along the tracks is crucial for ensuring track safety, preventing illegal crossings, and identifying any suspicious activities.

Similarly, in the Katihar Division, foot patrolling was carried out from Haldibari Zero Point to Haldibari railway station. Given its proximity to the international border, this area received intensive patrolling to bolster security and maintain ongoing vigilance.

As stated by the CPRO, these proactive initiatives exemplify the steadfast dedication of the Northeast Frontier Railway and security forces to protect national interests. These collaborative patrols have not only improved the sense of security among railway personnel and passengers but have also served as a deterrent against unlawful actions.

The Northeast Frontier Railway is committed to ensuring the safety and security of the railway network and will persist in its collaborative efforts with RPF, GRP, and BSF to safeguard passengers, assets, and crucial infrastructure throughout the region, Sharma emphasized.

The NFR operates in the northeastern states and in seven districts of West Bengal and five districts of north Bihar.
