Bhopal, May 2 (NationPress) Several community-focused organizations have united to stage a state-wide protest against the rising incidents of love-jihad in Madhya Pradesh this Friday.
Protests are set to occur at over 20 locations within Bhopal, where a controversial love-jihad case has emerged, prompting the state authorities to take stringent measures against the alleged perpetrators.
Priyanka Mishra, a representative from Sakal Hindu Samaj, stated that the demonstration aims to advocate for severe penalties for individuals targeting Hindu girls, exploiting them, and coercing them into religious conversions.
“We have called upon various Hindu organizations for support and urged members of the community to speak out against love-jihad. Hindu girls, including minors, are being targeted, which must be curtailed,” Mishra emphasized.
Following the uncovering of a network involved in love-jihad in Bhopal, three arrests have been made and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been set up to delve deeper into the situation. Politicians from the BJP, including ministers, have voiced their concerns regarding this matter.
Senior BJP leader and Urban Development Minister, Kailash Vijayvargiya, remarked on Thursday that the government must implement stringent laws against love-jihad promptly to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control.
“Every single day, a Hindu girl falls victim to love-jihad in Bhopal. This is a grave issue, and I urge leaders to prioritize awareness-raising in their constituencies over mere politics,” Vijayvargiya stated during a press conference.
In addition, BJP MP from Bhopal, Alok Sharma, proposed that those targeting Hindu girls and committing sexual assaults should face sterilization.
He pointed out a significant network operating in Madhya Pradesh that preys on Hindu girls.
Another BJP Minister, Vishvas Sarang, announced that the state would soon launch an awareness campaign in schools and colleges to educate female students about love-jihad.
This announcement followed reports of several girl students allegedly being sexually assaulted and blackmailed in Bhopal recently.
Two suspects have been apprehended in connection with the rapes and blackmail of girls from a private college under false pretenses of love.
“The state government will initiate a program to inform girls about the love-jihad network. Following this campaign, girls will feel empowered to discuss their issues with female teachers,” Minister Sarang, an MLA from Bhopal, stated.
In discussions with the media, he further noted that the government has established an SIT to investigate the matter, ensuring that those guilty will face exemplary punishment.
“We must safeguard our daughters from love-jihad; awareness among female students and their parents is crucial. Parents should remain vigilant and maintain open communication with their daughters,” he advised.
