Bhopal, May 1 (NationPress) - The Madhya Pradesh Sports and Youth Welfare Minister, Vishwas Sarang, announced on Thursday that the state administration will launch an initiative in educational institutions aimed at raising awareness among female students about "love-jihad".

This declaration followed reports of multiple incidents where girl students were reportedly subjected to sexual assault and blackmail in Bhopal recently.

Authorities have apprehended two suspects linked to the incidents of rape and coercion, exploiting false pretenses of love.

Minister Sarang, who serves as an MLA from Bhopal, stated, "The state government is committed to initiating a program to inform girls about the connections to love jihad. Post-campaign, they should feel comfortable discussing their concerns with female educators."

In his address to the press, the minister elaborated that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established to delve into the case, ensuring that offenders face severe consequences.

"Our priority is to safeguard our daughters from love-jihad. Awareness among students and their families is critical. Parents should remain vigilant and maintain open communication with their daughters," he emphasized.

Following the arrests, the SIT is probing the network involved in "entrapment and assaulting girls". Cybercrime specialists are also investigating financial records and digital footprints.

The police revealed that several victims have refrained from reporting the incidents due to fears of societal backlash. However, they are encouraged to seek counseling.

According to law enforcement, the group may have systematically targeted additional students.

The matter was brought to light on April 18 when the initial victim sought help from the Bag Sewania police station, claiming that the assailants pressured her into introducing her friends to them, leading to further sexual assaults and blackmail.

In response to the alarming incidents, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav asserted that the government will take a firm stand against "jihad or love jihad", ensuring that offenders face justice.
