Bhopal, May 3 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh's Sports and Youth Welfare Minister, Vishwas Sarang, expressed strong opinions on Saturday regarding perpetrators of sexual violence. He stated that individuals who prey on Hindu girls under the guise of 'love-jihad' and those who commit rape against minors deserve no compassion and should be "shot dead".
These comments were made following an incident where Farhan, the main suspect in a disturbing case of sexual assault and extortion involving young girls, was injured when he attempted to seize a firearm from police.
Sarang, a prominent BJP leader and MLA representing Bhopal's Narela constituency, remarked, "Those who commit such atrocious acts and violate minors should be shot dead. These criminals are a liability to society and should face the harshest consequences. It would have been preferable if the police had targeted him (Farhan) in the chest rather than the leg."
According to law enforcement, Farhan had requested a stop under the pretense of needing to use the restroom. During this time, he grabbed a Sub-inspector's gun, resulting in a chaotic situation where he was shot in the leg.
Hemant Srivastava, the police station chief of Bhopal's Ashoka Garden area, explained that they were transporting Farhan to Bilkisganj village to locate another suspect, Abrar, who is currently evading arrest.
"Farhan claimed he needed to go to the restroom, prompting a Sub-Inspector and a constable to accompany him. He then attempted to snatch the officer's weapon and escape. In the ensuing struggle, a bullet struck him in the leg," Srivastava detailed.
Farhan was allegedly part of a gang in Bhopal that drugged, assaulted, and filmed numerous female students, subsequently using the recordings to extort them.
A police report was filed on April 25 after three female students from a private college came forward with allegations.
Investigations revealed that Farhan and his accomplices primarily targeted girls who had relocated to Bhopal for education, as these individuals often had more freedom of movement.
"This situation made it easier for the gang to establish connections and exploit them," the police noted.
