Mumbai, July 3 (NationPress) Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home Affairs, Yogesh Kadam, expressed deep concern over the Pune rape incident, labeling it as "deeply unfortunate" and pledged that the perpetrator will face justice.

The incident, which occurred at around 7:30 PM on Wednesday, horrified the city as a 22-year-old tech professional was assaulted in her residence located in an upscale society in Pune’s Kondhwa area. The assailant deceived her by posing as a courier delivery person, claiming to deliver a bank document. Once inside, he brutally attacked her.

In a statement to IANS, Kadam remarked: "This incident took place within a private society. It is exceedingly unfortunate. We have procured CCTV footage and images, and the investigation is underway. We are in the process of gathering additional evidence. Those responsible will be held accountable."

His statements come in the wake of public uproar and calls for immediate justice. Pune police have ramped up efforts to identify the suspect, meticulously reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras and interviewing potential witnesses.

Kadam also addressed another alarming incident, where a disturbing video surfaced showing a 48-year-old sweet shop owner on Mumbai’s Mira Road being attacked, reportedly by members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), for not communicating in Marathi.

Kadam reacted firmly, stating: "We will take stringent action against those involved. Such behavior will not be tolerated. No one can dictate language or assault others over it."

Additionally, Kadam extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for receiving Ghana’s highest civilian honor for non-citizens, "The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana". He lauded the PM’s global reputation and India's economic advancements during his tenure.

Kadam commented: "PM Modi has significantly enhanced India’s presence on the international stage, and today, India stands as the world’s fourth-largest economy. This is a point of pride for all citizens. India has accomplished remarkable feats during his leadership."

During his visit to Ghana, Prime Minister Modi graciously accepted the award, dedicating it to the youth of both countries and the rich cultural connections between India and Ghana.

PM Modi completed his two-day visit to Ghana on Thursday and is now en route to Trinidad and Tobago, as India and Ghana elevate their bilateral relationship to a comprehensive partnership.
