NIA Appeals for Public Assistance to Apprehend Gangster Happy Passia, Promises Rs 5 Lakh Reward

New Delhi, Jan 9 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has declared a monetary reward of Rs 5 lakh for any leads that could aid in the capture of Harpreet Singh, widely referred to as Happy Passia, in connection with a recent grenade assault on a residence in Chandigarh. Passia is currently a fugitive, and the NIA has called upon the public to submit any pertinent information.
"Harpreet Singh, also known as Happy Passia or Jora, originates from Ajnala tehsil in District Amritsar, Punjab. He is a wanted criminal in the NIA case RC-15/2024/NIA/DLI, which was initiated on October 1, 2024. This case pertains to a grenade attack that transpired on September 11, 2024, at a property in Sector 10, Chandigarh," an NIA statement noted.
The grenade assault was aimed at former Jalandhar SP Jaskirat Singh Chahal and his family. The attack was executed by two suspects, Rohan and Vishal Masih, who hurled the grenade before escaping. Passia subsequently took to social media to claim responsibility for the assault, further incriminating himself in the incident.
The NIA has filed a petition in the Chandigarh District Court seeking an arrest warrant for Passia concerning this attack.
This case involves severe allegations, including breaches under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA (P) Act), the Explosive Substances Act, and various sections of the Indian Penal Code related to criminal conspiracy and violence. Investigations have uncovered that Passia masterminded the grenade assault while collaborating with Harvinder Singh Rinda, a Khalistani operative based in Pakistan, who is affiliated with the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a designated terrorist organization.
The NIA has made public appeals for any leads regarding Passia, promising anonymity for those who provide useful information. The agency has issued a poster containing contact numbers and email addresses for reporting purposes.
Passia remains elusive, and the NIA is diligently pursuing him to ensure he faces justice. His involvement in terrorist-related activities continues to represent a considerable threat to national security.
