New Delhi, May 31 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has named three Maoist guerrillas from the Kabani Dalam squad in a charge sheet submitted to a Special Kerala court regarding the armed assault on the Kerala Forest Department Corporation (KFDC) office in Wayanad in 2023, as confirmed by an official on Saturday.
This charge sheet was presented to the Special Court in Ernakulam against the trio affiliated with the banned CPI (Maoist) terrorist organization on Friday.
The individuals identified in the charge sheet are C.P. Moideen alias Girish alias Salil alias Sajan, Manoj P.M. alias Ashique, and P.K. Soman alias Shahid alias Akbar.
They face charges under various sections of the IPC, the Arms Act, the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, the Kerala Forest Act, 1961, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, as stated by an NIA official.
According to the charge sheet, five members of the CPI (Maoist), armed with lethal weapons, illegally assembled and intruded into the KFDC office on September 28, 2023.
During the assault, they restrained the KFDC Manager and caused significant damage to public property and equipment using iron rods. While chanting Maoist slogans, these individuals also affixed CPI (Maoist) posters within the office premises.
Following the incident, law enforcement agencies arrested four of the attackers, while one voluntarily surrendered to the police.
The NIA, which assumed control of the investigation shortly afterward, discovered that C.P. Moideen, Manoj P.M., and P.K. Soman, along with H. S. Ravindra alias Kotehonda Ravialias alias Manoj alias Ramu and Santhosh Kumar A alias Sandhosh Kumar alias Raja, were part of the Military Wing People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) of CPI (Maoist).
They established a local guerrilla unit named Kabani Dalam in the forests of Wayanad and were actively involved in terrorist activities aimed at instilling fear in the public and undermining the government. The attack on the KFDC was a component of their violent anti-national strategy, as outlined by the NIA.
