Mumbai, May 15 (NationPress) Senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam on Thursday condemned the Congress for purportedly politicizing Operation Sindoor, labeling it as "unfortunate" and a pivotal matter of national concern.
His comments were made following Jairam Ramesh, a senior Congress leader, who accused the BJP of exploiting the military operation for political leverage. On Wednesday, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh raised alarm over reports indicating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi intends to convene with the Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states to deliberate on Operation Sindoor and India’s military response to Pakistani hostilities.
Ramesh argued that this was part of the BJP’s larger political strategy as elections approach.
Nirupam expressed disappointment regarding the Congress's position.
“It is unfortunate that the Congress party is engaging in political maneuvers even on national security matters. Operation Sindoor was an incredibly successful military endeavor where our armed forces forced Pakistan to withdraw. At a time when our soldiers display unwavering courage akin to the Himalayas, it is utterly reprehensible for the Congress to challenge their bravery and seek to politicize the operation,” Nirupam informed IANS.
He further encouraged the Congress to exhibit maturity in addressing issues of national significance.
“Engaging in politics over matters of national pride and military achievements is disgraceful. The Congress should practice restraint and prioritize national interests over party politics,” Nirupam emphasized.
In response to reports of Turkish drones being utilized by Pakistan against India, and the visible support from Turkey to Pakistan, there have been renewed calls to boycott Turkey.
“As tensions with Pakistan escalate, Turkey has openly sided with Pakistan by allegedly supplying drones via Karachi airport for use against India. This clearly indicates that Turkey is no longer a friend to India. Their support for Pakistan has offended the sentiments of Indian citizens, leading to over 50% of Indian tourists reportedly canceling their trips to Turkey,” he stated.
Nirupam called for a gradual diplomatic and economic disengagement from Turkey, citing their alignment with Pakistan and support for terrorism.
Nirupam also remarked on an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, where three Jaish-e-Muhammad terrorists were neutralized by Indian security forces.
“The terrorists were heavily armed, confirming that Pakistan continues to sponsor cross-border terrorism. Our army exhibited extraordinary valor, deserving the nation’s gratitude. Such operations must persist until the entire terrorism network is dismantled,” he stated.
Responding to reports that Pakistan’s Ministry of Water Resources had addressed India, requesting a reconsideration of the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, Nirupam remarked: “Following the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Operation Sindoor effectively dismantled numerous terror camps and airbases. India has every right to reassess the Indus Waters Treaty. Water should not flow to a nation that fosters terrorism. Pakistan must be addressed in its own language.”
