New Delhi, Jan 20 (NationPress) Nitin Nabin assumed the role of BJP National President during the organizational event known as Sangathan Parv held on Tuesday at the party headquarters in New Delhi, making him the youngest individual to ever occupy this position.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Nabin following his appointment.
Among those present on stage were outgoing BJP national chief J.P. Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, and National Returning Officer for BJP's 'Sangathan Parv' K. Laxman.
K. Laxman formally announced Nitin Nabin as the new BJP National President and presented him with the election certificate.
A significant number of senior leaders, including all Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states, national office bearers, state unit presidents, and members of the party's national executive committee attended the Sangathan Parv at the headquarters.
The BJP had declared Nitin Nabin as the only candidate for the position of National President after the nomination and scrutiny process concluded without any other competitors, leading to his unopposed election as the party's 12th national chief.
Nabin, who is 45 years old and was appointed as National Working President on December 14 of the previous year, has garnered substantial support from the top echelons of the BJP leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and outgoing President J.P. Nadda.
On Monday, senior BJP leaders, Chief Ministers, and representatives from various states submitted supporting documents in favor of Nabin, indicating a robust organizational consensus.
As the sole candidate, Nabin was officially elected by the electoral college consisting of members from the BJP's national council and state councils.
This process is in alignment with BJP regulations, which stipulate that a candidate must be proposed by at least 20 electoral college members from a state and possess a minimum of 15 years of party membership.
Nabin's elevation is perceived as a strategic initiative to incorporate youthful leadership into the party structure while maintaining continuity.
