Patna, Aug 2 (NationPress) In an initiative to fortify Bihar's traffic and road safety framework, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday officially launched and flagged off 71 new vehicles for the Traffic Police from his official residence at 1 Anne Marg, Patna.
This event signifies a pivotal advancement towards modernising traffic management and bolstering public safety throughout the state.
The Chief Minister reviewed the new vehicles and engaged with police officials to grasp the operational dynamics and deployment plan.
The launch ceremony was graced by Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Choudhary, DGP Vinay Kumar, alongside various ministers and high-ranking administrative members.
These vehicles are set to be assigned across all 38 districts of Bihar, particularly to DSPs and traffic police stations, aimed at enhancing surveillance on national highways, state highways, and urban areas.
The primary objective is to optimise traffic regulation, diminish road accidents, and alleviate traffic congestion.
Addressing the audience, Chief Minister Nitish remarked: "Our focus is to render Bihar's roads safer and more structured. These new vehicles will significantly upgrade traffic management and public service efficiency."
DGP Vinay Kumar mentioned that the vehicles will soon be dispatched to their respective districts, and police personnel will receive specialised training for effective deployment.
This initiative aligns with a broader governmental effort to modernise policing infrastructure and enhance response times in both urban and rural settings.
The state also plans to acquire additional modern vehicles and sophisticated technical tools in the coming months to further enhance law enforcement and public safety.

Earlier, on June 19 this year, Chief Minister Nitish flagged off a fleet of 520 four-wheelers and 98 two-wheelers for the Bihar police.
The vehicles, designated for police use, aim to strengthen law enforcement capabilities and improve response times to crimes and investigations.
