Patna, Oct 29 (NationPress) With the Bihar Assembly elections approaching, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has launched a fierce critique of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), accusing them of fostering lawlessness during their 15 years in power.
On Wednesday, during a series of rallies in his home district of Nalanda, the JD(U) leader highlighted the party’s focus on family-centric politics rather than the welfare of the public.
While campaigning for NDA candidates, Nitish Kumar drew a stark comparison between the state of Bihar before and after 2005, when he first took office.
"Before 2005, Bihar faced rampant lawlessness. There were constant clashes between Hindus and Muslims, and people were scared to go out at night. Education, healthcare, and electricity were in dire straits," the Chief Minister stated.
He criticized the RJD for having squandered its 15 years in governance.
"They had 15 years but chose to serve their family. Lalu Prasad Yadav made his wife the Chief Minister and brought his sons into politics. We have never prioritized our family; our focus has always been on serving the people," Nitish asserted.
While campaigning in Rajgir and Asthawan, Nitish Kumar sought support for JD(U) candidates Kaushal Kishore and Jitendra Kumar.
He emphasized that since 2005, his government has aimed to restore law and order, enhance governance, and promote social harmony.
The Chief Minister showcased his administration's inclusive development initiatives, referencing the fencing of cemeteries in 2006 and temples in 2016 to avoid communal tensions.
"We have worked equally for everyone, whether Hindu or Muslim," he declared.
Nitish also highlighted accomplishments in job creation and women's empowerment.
"In 2020, we pledged to create 10 lakh jobs and 10 lakh employment opportunities. We achieved that, with almost 40 lakh people gaining employment. In the next five years, we aim to provide jobs for 1 crore youth," he stated.
The Chief Minister further noted Bihar's historic progress in women's representation, recalling the introduction of 50 percent reservation in Panchayati Raj institutions in 2006, 35 percent in the police in 2013, and 35 percent in all government jobs by 2025.
"Today, Bihar has the highest number of women in the police force nationwide," he remarked.
Nitish also emphasized the success of the 'Jeevika' self-help group initiative, initiated in 2006 with support from the World Bank, which now boasts 1.4 crore members.
