Patna, June 16 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, officially opened the Mithapur-Mahuli four-lane elevated roadway on Monday. This significant infrastructure initiative is designed to alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Patna and the southern districts of Bihar.
The newly constructed elevated corridor will create a direct link for travelers to the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi NH 83 at Punpun, resulting in a substantial enhancement in travel efficiency for individuals heading towards Jehanabad, Gaya, Dhanbad, Kolkata, and Ranchi.
This elevated roadway will also facilitate easier access to Punpun Ghat, particularly for those performing religious ceremonies such as Pinddaan.
With a total expenditure of Rs 1105 crore, construction of the project commenced in 2020 and was successfully completed within the designated five-year timeframe.
During the inauguration ceremony held at Bhupatipur, Bihar Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen emphasized the advantages of this new route.
“Previously, it took about 45 to 50 minutes to reach Punpun. With the launch of the elevated roadway, this duration is now reduced to just 10 minutes. This will greatly benefit commuters and alleviate traffic on routes such as the Patna Bypass,” he stated.
The Patna-Gaya-Dobhi four-lane project was already functional, allowing travelers to reach Gaya from Patna in a mere 90 minutes.
With the addition of the Mithapur-Mahuli link, travel will be even more efficient and time-effective.
Present at the event were Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, along with other prominent figures including Gopal Ravidas and Nitin Naveen.
Just a day prior, CM Nitish Kumar had visited several ongoing infrastructure projects, which included the Mithapur-Mahuli road, the Zero-Mile flyover, the Punpun Suspension Bridge, and enhancements in connectivity near the Bihta-Sarmera Path.
The Chief Minister also examined the state of the old Patna-Gaya road, reiterating his dedication to upgrading infrastructure for public benefit.
Moreover, he is anticipated to inaugurate Patna’s first metro corridor connecting Pataliputra Bus Stand to Malahi Pakadi by mid-August.
These efforts are part of the CM’s strategy to finalize crucial infrastructure projects ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, demonstrating the government’s commitment to development and enhanced connectivity across the region.
